MRC goes to the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA

The Boys Varsity 8+ boat had the privilege of attending the 43rd Head of the Charles race in Boston, Ma the weekend of 20-21 October.

The Head of the Charles is the largest regatta in the world and hosted teams from China, New Zealand, England, Australia, to name a few. The best rowers in the world from as young as 14 to age 80 years, participated in the challenging 3 miles course down the winding Charles River and under three (narrow) bridges.

The team of: Mike Rudolph, Nik Tranchik, Dustin Baxter, Jordan Brosch, Mike Farrell, Mickey Gill, Connor Tweardy, Jimmy Currell, and Max Tenenbaum, completing the race clean with a very respectable time in a very strong field of competitors. We look forward to their continued success.

Congratulations to the team and coaches for representing our team so well.


5 November 2007: Spring Registration begins.

Please visit the registration tab for forms that must be completed and submitted on Registration Day.
 

5 December 2007: Novice Parent meeting is scheduled for at the Moorestown High School Media room at 7pm. Contact Andrea Tranchik with questions prior to the event.

 
 8 December 2007:  Registration for Novice and Returning rowers. Bring all completed forms to the MHS Cafeteria, 8:30 am to Noon.

MRC currently has assistant coaching positions available. If you are interested please e-mail your resume to John Lloyd.

 


73rd Annual Scholastic Rowing Association of American Nationals, at the Cooper River, NJ: The race brings together the best rowers from all over the United States to determine the North American Scholastic Champions. This year, the participants must have qualified by winning at one of the following events during the racing season: Florida State, Philadelphia City, NJ Scholastic, NY State Scholastic, VA Scholastic, National Capital and Midwest Championships.

The Moorestown Rowing Club earned three places in the event.

  • Girls Junior Varsity 8: Elizabeth Johnson, Paige Menees, Mary Kate Sutter, Kirsten Van Fossen, Vaughn Cody, Alexis Stavros, Natalie Volpe, Kelsey Maier, and Donna Kiessling.
  • Boys Lightweight 4: Mike Rudolph, Matt Jungclaus, Dustin Baxter, Ryan Dwosh, and Mike McCool
  • Boys Senior 4: Zoey Call, Jordan Brosch, Brendan Baumgartner, Dave Suh, and Nate Myers.

MRC congratulates them on a successful season.


May 18 & 19, 2007, Stotesbury, Schuylkill

MRC participated in the two day event. Day one was dedicated to heats, followed by day two for semi finals and finals. There were schools from all over the country, and many of the events had over 40 schools.

MRC completed in the following events:

  • Girls Freshman 8
  • Girls Lightweight 4
  • Girls Senior 4
  • Boys Junior 8 (novice team)

The following teams qualified for semi-finals on day two:

  • Girls Junior 8
  • Boys Lightweight 8
  • Boys Senior 4


May 13 2007, Dr. White Regatta, “Novice only”, Schuylkill

MRC participated in the Dr. White Regatta, with four boats entered into heats.

Heat results: First place - Boys Novice 8 & Girls Novice 4; Third place - Boys Novice 4 & Girl’s Freshman 8

All boats successfully competed and secured a place in the finals with the following results:

  • First Place: Boy’s Novice 8;
  • Third Place: Girls Novice 4;
  • Sixth Place: Girls Freshman 8; Boy’s Novice Four

May 6 2007, Philadelphia City Championship Regatta, Schuylkill

MRC continues a successful season with impressive results against strong competition. After the morning heats, four boats continued onto the finals:

  • Boy’s Novice 8 1st place
  • Girls Novice 4 3rd place
  • Girls JV 8 placed 4th place
  • Boy’s Ltwt 8 placed 5th.

Congratulations to all rowers.


April 28 and 29 was a successful double-header weekend, at the Cooper River, for the Moorestown Rowing Club.

Saturday, the NJ Scholastic Rowing Championship was held at the Cooper River. Rowers from all over the state competed in morning races for best times, with the top six advancing to the afternoon finals. The MRC had four boats advance with the final results: Men’s HS Novice 8+ ‘A’ placed First; Men’s Lightweight 4+ placed third and qualified for the National Championship. Also in the finals, the Men’s Varsity 4+ placed Third; Women’s HS Novice 4+ placed Sixth.

Sunday, the Moorestown rowers returned to the river to compete in the Cooper Cup 2007 Regatta. Rowing clubs from as far away as New York and Connecticut participated in the event. The MRC enjoyed great success with First place finishes for Men’s HS Novice 8+; Women’s Novice 4+; Men’s Junior Varsity 8+; and Men’s Lightweight 4+.

April 22, Manny Flick Results - The Moorestown Rowing Club hit the waterways on 22 April at the Schuylkill River for the Fifth Manny Flick, Horvat Series Regatta. The team continued to show their dedication and skill by once again posting impressive results. With several very tight races, all boats successfully finished within seconds off the first place finish.

First Place Finish:
Lwt Women’s 4

Second Place Finish:
Girls Novice 4
Girls JV8

Third Place Finish:
Girls Varsity 4
Boy’s Novice 8, A
Men’s Lwt 4
Men’s Varsity 4

Additional Races: Girl’s Freshman 8, 6th place; Boy’s JV 8, 9th place; Boys Novice 8, B, 20th. Congratulations to the entire team.
